Last night I am getting ready for the coming examination when the noise from my neighbor interrupted (打扰) me. The noise went on and on. It was too loud that I could hardly pay attention to my study any longer. But I went to my neighbor’s house and say to him, “Excuse me, would you please turn down the TV? I’m preparing for tomorrow’s examination.” Hear these words, his face turned to red. And he said, “OK, I will. I’m very sorry to have made so much noise. Just now, the football game was very wonderfully. I was too exciting to control myself. I won’t do that again. Good lucky in your coming examination.” After that, I went on with his study.

Science is always advancing over time. A self-driving car from the Google may be coming to a street near you. However, you won’t be able to buy it now. “We’re working to build the world’s most experienced driver,” Kraft, director of the project, said. “Everything that we learn in one of our cars gets passed to all of our cars. But you may need to get over the idea of traditional car ownership along the way.”
Google’s software has already driven 5 million miles in U.S. cities, including an “early rider” test in Phoenix last April. Since then Google has grown confident enough to remove the “auxiliary wheel”: a human “safety driver”. Powering the vehicle’s self-driving functions is a series of cameras, radars and sensors on the car’s roof, which detect everything nearby from other vehicles and passers-by to cyclists.
Kraft stressed that Google’s cars aren’t connected—they don’t need a 5G wireless link to go anywhere. “The car has everything it needs to drive on the car itself.” He said, “There are no signals coming from outer space or something telling it to turn right.” The resulting ride may not be too exciting but safe. Kraft added. “We can see three football fields down the road, we would come to a stop before we ran into these crowds.”
Google’s system has a major advantage over the semi-autonomous(半自主的)systems of Tesla and Cadillac, both of which need continued human attention. Kraft said Google plans to have service in every major city by 2028 with thousands of cars driving themselves.
1.What does the underlined words “auxiliary wheels” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. A car that is very old.
B. A driver who has been trained well.
C. A part of a car used to sound the alarm.
D. A condition where a driver doesn’t know his role.
2.Why is Google’s car thought to be safe in the text?
A. Because it can get away from danger easily.
B. Because it is equipped with 5G wireless link.
C. Because it can stop before the crowds occasionally.
D. Because it can keep a safe distance from everything nearby.
3.What can we learn from the text?
A. Google’s software has not been tested.
B. Google’s cars have not been put into the market.
C. Driving the Google’s car may not be too exciting.
D. Google’s cars still need driver’s attention all the way.
4.What does the author think of the Google’s car?
A. It’s affordable.
B. It’s still a theory.
C. It has a bright future.
D. It’s the most advanced by now.

Researchers in Britain are driving the environmental movement to a new level. A team from the University of Warwick has built what it calls the world’s first completely environmentally friendly Formula Three racing car.
The car is made mainly of renewable materials, like plants and vegetables. The structure around the car is made from natural plant fibers and potatoes. The steering wheel(方向盘) is made from root vegetables like carrots. The engine uses bio-fuel made from vegetable oil and waste chocolate.
The new racing car is extremely fast. The car has a top speed of two hundred fifteen kilometers an hour. And it can go from zero to ninety-five kilometers an hour in just two and a half seconds. The racing car meets all of the Formula Three racing requirements except for its biodiesel(生物柴油) engine.
Automobile racing is one of the most widely watched sports in the world. But it is also considered one of the least friendly sports to the environment. Racing cars burn a lot of fuel, and create a lot of air pollution. In recent years, the racing industry has taken steps to protect the environment. More racing companies are now producing cars that use less energy. These cars produce less pollution than cars that depend on traditional fuel, like gasoline.
Last month, the new racing car was set to run in its first competitive race at the Formula Three Championship Final at Brands Hatch. It would have been the first biodiesel-powered car to race at Formula Three. Current Formula Three rules let only gasoline-powered car to compete. Officials needed permission from all of the Formula Three racers for the biodiesel-powered car to compete. They were unable to contact one of the drivers, so the new racing car didn’t appear in the event. In test runs, the new racing car was the fifth fastest among the Formula Three race cars. Supporters are hoping to have the fuel problem solved in time to compete in the next season.
1.. What’s the second paragraph mainly about?
A. What materials the new racing car is made of.
B. Why researchers built the new racing car.
C. The characteristics of the new racing car.
D. The process of the new racing car being designed.
2..According to the passage, the _________ of the new racing car doesn’t meet the Formula Three racing
requirements.
A. speed B. appearance C. weight D. engine
3.. It can be inferred from the passage that __________.
A. the new racing car is the first environmentally friendly car
B. automobile racing could be forbidden in the near future
C. many people like to watch automobile racing
D. the new racing car will be allowed to compete in the next season of Formula Three racing
4.. In recent years, racing companies are producing cars that __________.
A. burn more fuel B. go more quickly
C. produce less pollution D. cost less money
5..Why didn’t the new racing car compete at the Formula Three Championship Final last month?
A. Because the new racing car still needs testing.
B. Because officials needed each racer’s permission but failed to contact one.
C. Because there’re some technical problems to be solved.
D. Because few drivers think it is fast enough.

Self-driving cars are just around the corner. Such vehicles will make getting from one place to another safer and less stressful. They also could cut down on traffic, reduce pollution and limit accidents. But how should driverless cars handle emergencies? People disagree on the answer.
To understand the challenge, imagine a car suddenly meets some pedestrians in the road. It’s too late to avoid a crash. So the car’s artificial intelligence must decide whether to swerve(急转弯), To save the pedestrians, should the car swerve off the road or swerve into oncoming traffic:? What if such options :would likely kill the car’s driver?
Researchers used online survey to study people’s attitudes about such situations with driverless cars. Survey participants mostly agreed automated cars should be designed to protect the most people. That included swerving into walls to save a larger number of pedestrians. However, those same surveyed want to ride in cars that protect passengers at all costs-even if the pedestrians would now end up dying. Jean-Francois Bonnefon, a psychologist at the Toulouse School of Economics, and his colleagues reported their findings in Science.
“Automated cars can revolutionize transportation, says study coauthor Iyad Rahwan. But he adds, this new technology creates a moral (道德的) dilemma that could slow its acceptance.
Makers of computerized cars are at a loss for what to do next. Most buyers would want their cars to be programmed to protect them in preference to other people. However, regulations might one day instruct that cars must act for the greater good. But the scientists think rules like this could drive away buyers, If so, all the potential benefits of driverless cars would be lost.
Compromises(妥协) might be possible, another psychologist, Kurt Gray says. He thinks if all driverless cars are programmed to protect their passengers in emergencies, traffic accidents will drop. Those vehicles might be dangerous to pedestrians on rare occasions. But they “won’t speed, won’t drive drunk and won’t text while driving, which would be a win for society. "
1.The underlined word “challenge" in Paragraph 2 refers to .
A. the technical problems that self-driving cars have
B. how self-driving cars reduce traffic accidents
C. how self-driving cars handle emergencies
D. people’s negative attitude towards self-driving cars
2.According to the passage, online surveys show that .
A. people care about whose safety should come first
B. self-driving cars should be designed to protect drivers
C. the busy traffic may be a problem for self-driving cars
D. self-driving cars’ artificial intelligence needs improvement
3.What can we infer from the fifth paragraph?
A. Regulations are in passengers’ favor.
B. Most people dislike driverless cars now.
C. Self-driving car makers are in a tough spot.
D. The potential benefits of driverless cars are ignored.
4.What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Moral Dilemma Could Limit Appeal of Driverless Cars.
B. Driverless Cars Could Revolutionize Transportation,
C. New Regulations Have Great Influence on Driverless Cars.
D. People Disagree on the Future of Driverless Cars.
