According to sociologists(社会学家), every modern industrial society has some form of social stratification(阶层). Class, power and status are important in deciding people's rank in society.
Class means a person's economic position in society. A commonly used classification is lower class, middle class and upper class. While sociologists disagree on how these terms should be exactly defined, they do describe societies like the United States quite well. One study shows that 53% of Americans belong to the lower class, 46% the middle class, and 1% the upper class. Interestingly, a surgeon earning $500,000 a year and a bus driver earning $50,000 a year both regard themselves as the middle class!
Power refers to the amount of control a person has over other people. Obviously, people in positions of great power (such as governors) exercise(行使)big power, but people who take orders from others have less power. Power and class do not always go hand in hand, however. For example, the governor of a state has great power, but he or she may not belong to a corresponding (相应的)economic class. Generally, however, there is a relationship between power and class. To our knowledge, there aren't too many people who aren't millionaires in the U.S. Senate!
Status is the honor or respect attached to a person's position in society. It can also be affected by power and class, but not necessarily so. For example, a university professor may have a high status but not belong to a high social class or have a lot of power over others.
1.What can we learn about “the middle class” from Paragraph 2?
A.People earning $50,000 a year belong to the middle class.
B.Nearly half Americans belong to the middle class.
C.People generally consider bus drivers as the middle class.
D.Sociologists have a clear definition of the middle class.
2.According to the text, we know that ________.
A.Power and class do not always correspond with each other

According to sociologists, there are several different ways in which a person may become recognized as a leader of a social group.
In the family, traditional cultural patterns award_________ to one or both of the parents. In other _______, such as friendship groups, one or more persons may gradually emerge as leaders, although there is no formal process of _______.In larger groups, leaders are usually chosen formally through election or recruitment.
Although leaders are often thought to be people with unusual personal ability, decades of research have failed to produce consistent _______ that there is any category of "natural leaders". It seems that there is no set of personal qualities that all leaders have _______; rather, practically any person may be recognized as a leader if the person has _______ that meet the needs of that particular group.
Research suggests that there are typically two different leadership _______ that are held by different individuals. Expressive leaders cultivate a more ____________ or primary relationship to others in the group. They offer ____________ when someone experiences difficulties and try to____________ issues that threaten to divide the group. According to the dictionary definition of ‘create’,ordinary people are creative every day. To create means to bring into being,to cause to exist something each of us does daily. We are creative whenever we look at or think about something in a new way.
First, this includes an awareness(意识)of our surroundings. It means using all of our senses to become aware of our world. This may be as simple as being aware of color and texture(质地),as well as taste, when we plan a meal. Above all,it is the ability to notice things that others might miss.
A second part of creativity is an ability to see relationships among things. If we believe the expression, there is nothing new under the sun,the creativity is remaking or recombining(重组)the old in new ways. For example,we might do this by finding a more effective way to study or a better way to arrange our furniture,or we might make a new combination of camera lenses and filters to create an unusual photograph.
A third part of creativity is the courage and drive to make use of our new ideas,to ask for them to achieve some new results. To think up a new idea is one thing;to put the idea to work is another. These three parts of creativity are included in all the great works of geniuses, but they are also included in many of our day to day activities.

A. a new thing can only be created at the basis of earliest things
B. a new thing is only a tale
C. we can seldom create new things

3.What does the author think about the relationship between a new thought and its being put into practice?

B. To find a new thought will clearly lead to the production of a new thing.
C. A man with an excellent ability of practice can easily become an inventor.
D. One may come up with a new thought, but can not put it into practice.
