On a recent visit to the Museum of Modem Art with a friend and her daughter, wandering through the museum's exhibits,I was struck by how often my friend's 13-year-old daughter asked us to take photos of her with her smart phone in front of the artwork. Then, she gazed at the photos which she would then post on Instagram,Snapchat and all the rest. She was not the only person who was doing this; it seemed everyone was busy taking photos of themselves "experiencing" the museum.
This is by no means a criticism of my friend's daughter or anyone else. What was concerning,at least to me,was that in between being photographed and posting,my friend's daughter had no interest in the artwork,a fact which didn't seem to matter or have anything to do with wanting to post herself as someone enjoying the experience.
When I was her age,I had no interest in going to museums either.Having no interest in art at her age (and any age) is completely normal. But what is disturbing is how much of a young person's energy these days goes into creating an image of the life they're living and the character they "are" in that life. While creating a self-image has always been a big part of growing up and figuring out our identity, social media seems to have changed the rules of the game.Social media has not just increased the pressure and possibility of creating a self-generated(自我创造的) self-image,but also distorted(歪曲)the process through which we become who we are.Young people now seem to be creating an image of who they are in place of becoming who they are, posting their life rather than living it.
Social media has turned life and its experiences into an exercise in narcissism(自恋,自我陶醉).No matter what the experience is actually about,it becomes about you,the person who is living it.A concert is not about the music,a restaurant not about the food and a sport event not about the sport;it's all about you,the doer, and what the event says about you.As a result the more we use life create an identity, the more distant from life we feel.Instead of being part of it,we feel as if we have to keep generating new life material.
I hope the next time you post your story, pause for a moment and experience where you are, feel what it feels like to live what you're living without using life for your benefit,or for anything at all.Just live, without the narrative(叙述).While you may feel this practice is a threat to your identity, causing you to miss a chance to prove your value,in fact, the benefit will far outweigh any loss it brings.
1.According to the author, the fact that her friend's daughter was not interested in the artwork is_____.
A. worrying B. unsurprising
C. unchangeable D. unbearable
2.Which of the following is the basic reason behind people's continuously posting their life?
A. Their desire for being well known.
B. Their increased focus on life.
C. The influence of social media.
D. The pressure from their family and friends.
3.The author believes that the identity people create through narcissism may______.
A. prevent them behaving properly
B. stand in the way of leading a true life
C. cause them to depend more on the remarks of others
D. damage their creativity in producing life material
4.The underlined "it" in the last paragraph refers to______.
A. trying to take control of your feelings
B. facing the threat to your identity bravely
C. improving your self-image through writing
D. experiencing what you're doing practically

Even if trees cannot walk, they are still on the move.
In parts of the Arctic, entire forests are moving northward. Across the Arctic, temperatures are rising faster than anywhere else in the world. As that happens, the tree line that marks where forests stop and the treeless tundra (冻土地带)starts has been shifting northward. Trees growing along the tree line must protect themselves from the cold wind. To do this, plants tend to grow horizontal (水平的)branches low to the ground. The energy it takes for trees to grow this way means they don't have enough energy to make seeds.
But as Earth's climate has been warming, trees no longer have to just grow horizontally. Many can instead grow up toward the sky. This takes less energy. And with all the leftover energy. these trees have started producing more seeds. This happens especially in places where the white spruce (白云杉)grows.
White spruce, which is a North American tree, is quite able to produce a lot of seeds, which can move long distances in the wind. When wind-blown seeds end up on the tundra beyond the tree line, they eventually can sprout (发芽) new trees. This explains how a forest can move. Of course, the process would work only if the tundra were warm enough. But in recent years, the whole planet has been warming.
New trees will provide shelters for some snow, keeping the sun’s rays from making the white surface disappear. Instead, the trees absorb the sun's heat. This warms the surrounding air. The extra warmth encourages even more trees to produce seeds. That further boosts a forest's ability to expand. In addition, more trees will trap more snow, preventing much of it from being blown away. Snow can trap heat in the soil below, which encourages trees to grow. The recent rise of temperature has helped more trees grow. The recent rise of temperatures has helped more trees grow past the tree line. People worry about impacts on the animals that depend on frozen conditions for food and shelter.
1.What is the main cause of the trees in the Arctic moving northward?
A. The rising temperature.
B. The shrinking of northern tundra.
C. The fierce and cold wind.
D. The abundant resources in the north.
2.What does the underlined word, “this”, in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. To produce more seeds.
B. To move northward
C. To respond to the climate change.
D. To protect themselves from the cold wind.
3.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. New trees can trap the snow, which may make the soil colder.
B. The trapped snow prevents new trees from producing more seeds.
C. New trees can make the surrounding air warmer.
D. New trees can bring more food and shelter for local animals.
4.The passage is most probably taken from _______.

When I wandered along a path through woods in the countryside, a small water pool came into my sight ahead. I changed my direction and took the part of the path that wasn’t covered by water or mud to go around it. When I reached the pool, I was suddenly attacked by something several times! It was from somewhere totally unexpected. I was surprised as well as unhurt. The attacker stopped attacking me when I backed up a foot. I couldn’t help laughing when I looked down and found I was being attacked by a butterfly!
Curiously, I took a step forward to see clearly. My attacker dashed towards me again. He rushed towards me at full speed, attempting to hurt me but failed. For a second time, I took a stop backwards when the attacker paused. I didn’t know what to do. After all, it’s just uncommon that one is attacked by a butterfly. I stepped back to look the situation over. My attacker moved back to land on the ground. That’s when I discovered why the attacker was kept charging me. He had a mate and she was dying.
Sitting tenderly close beside her, he opened and closed his wings as if to fan her. I could do nothing but admire the love and courage of that butterfly in his concern for his mate. He had attacked me for his mate’s sake, even though she was clearly dying and I was much larger than he. He did so just to give her those extra few precious moments of life. I shouldn’t have been careless enough to step on her. His courage in attacking something thousands of times larger and heavier than himself just for his mates’ safety seemed admirable. I was moved and rewarded him by walking on the more difficult side of the pool, leaving them undisturbed. He had truly earned those moments to be with his dear mate.
Since then, I’ve always tried to remember the courage of that butterfly whenever I see huge barriers facing me.
