Most people actually do not know how to do basic first aid on mild burns. It is normally taken for granted since most people think that soaking (浸泡) the burn with water is the way to go. 1.
Once the burn appears, you will surely feel much pain on the actual burned skin. Technically, this is the time to stay calm. 2. Finding a source of running water is recommended. However, if there is none, any source will do. If there is running water, simply place the burned area under it and allow it to soak the water for about 5 to 10 minutes. 3.If you have access to ice or a cold compress(冷敷布), you can use that as well. You can place the ice or cold compress on the affected area and leave it there about 15 to 30 minutes. The ice will numb the pain and will also stop more injury on the skin.
After soaking in water or cooling the area with ice, remove from the water source and allow the moisture to dry naturally. You may also consider patting it down dry with a towel or napkin, however, this could damage the burnt skin even more. 4.
As soon as the area dries up completely, get a bandage or a strip of cloth. 5.This will protect that area from infection caused by outside dirt and dust getting into the open burn.
A. Call a doctor may as well help in most burn cases.
B. The thing is that treating a mild burn goes more than just soaking the affected part in water.
C. It is best to dry it naturally instead.
D. Wrap it around the burn to cover the open area of skin.
E. The truth is that soaking is the last thing to do to deal with mild burn.
F. The first thing you will need to do will be to find a clean water source.
G. This will relieve some of the pain, cool down the skin, and stop additional burning.

It is OK not to be OK
This is the simple encouragement people often use for themselves or others. But for professional athletes, this can be the hardest sentence to say.
On March 6, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love posted an article titled “Everyone is Going Through Something” on the website The Players’ Tribune. In the article, the 29-year-old showed how he suffered from his first panic attack on Nov 5 in a game against the Atlanta Hawks and why he was so worried about sharing his story with the public.
Love identified that what keeps people from speaking up about their mental health challenges is the fear that many people see them as a weakness. “Growing up, you figure out really quickly how a boy is supposed to act. You learn what it takes to ‘be a man’. It’s like a play book: Be strong. Don’t talk about your feelings. Get through it on your own,” he wrote.
And being an NBA player made his situation even more difficult. Love was afraid to share his struggles because he didn’t want his Cavaliers teammates to think that he was unreliable.
However, as it turned out, Love’s teammates understood and supported him. Cleveland superstar LeBron James even wrote on social media that Love is “even more powerful now than ever before”.
For Love, it was a journey of empowerment to accept and address his mental illness and share his experience with millions of people who face the same problems. In fact, he was inspired to talk about his situation by Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan, who had also opened up about his mental health issues.
Last month, the 28-year-old told the Toronto Sun that despite being a top-performing and wealthy NBA player, he still deals with constant blues. “It’s one of the things that no matter how indestructible (坚不可摧的) we look like we are, we’re all human at the end of the day, ”he said. “Sometimes…it gets the best of you, when everything in the whole world’s on top of you, ” But other times, by admitting who we are, we can get what we want. As Love told Advance Ohio Media, “You have to let some of that stuff bleed out in order to fully recover from it.”
1.What problem did Love have?
A. He faced pressure communicating with public.
B. He was troubled by mental health issues.
C. He had a bad relationship with his teammates.
D. His injuries prevented him from playing well.
2.According to Love, why was it more difficult for him to speak up about his problem?
A. He thought he should get through it on his own.
B. He didn’t want others to know his weaknesses.
C. He was afraid to lose the trust of his teammates.
D. He needed to keep a good public image.
3.What happened after Love shared his story?
A. DeRozan was inspired to talk about his mental problems.
B. Love was asked by his team to take a long break.
C. Love received many letters from people with the same problem.
D. Love’s teammates showed their support for him.
4.Which of the following would Love probably agree with?
A. We should be strong when facing problems.
B. It is very difficult to recover from mental illness.
C. Facing bad feelings can help you get over them.
D. NBA players are more likely to suffer from mental illness.

One of the questions surrounding climate change is how it might affect the food supply for a growing global population. A new study suggests that researchers have been overlooking how two key human responses to climate—how much land people choose to farm, and the number of crops they plant—will affect food production in the future. The new study focused on the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, an emerging(新兴的)global breadbasket(产粮地区)that as of 2013 supplied 10 percent of the world’s soybeans. The researchers used variations in temperature and precipitation(降水)across the state over an eight-year period to estimate the sensitivity of the region’s agricultural production to climate change. Those historical comparisons can help in making predictions about the sensitivity of agriculture to future climate change.
The study found that, if the patterns from 2002 to 2008 hold in the future, an increase in average temperature in Mato Grosso of just 1 degree will lead to a 9 to 13 percent reduction in overall production of soy and corn. “This is worrisome given that the temperature in the study region is predicted to rise by 2 degrees by 2050,” said Avery Cohn, who led the study.
Most studies of this kind look only at the extent to which climate shocks affect crop output. But researchers can miss critical dynamics(动力)that can affect overall output, says Leah VanWey, one of the study’s senior authors. “If you look at output alone, you’re not looking at all of the information because there are economic and social changes going on as well,” said VanWey.
If output decreases, farmers may put less land area into production because it’s not profitable. Farmers may also vary the number of crops they plant in a growing season. Double cropping is common in Mato Grosso. But if the weather is bad, farmers may change their decision to plant a second crop.
1.The value of the new study lies in _________.
A.increasing the number of crops people plant
B.focusing on an emerging global breadbasket
C.making predictions about human responses to climate change
D.controlling people’s choice of their farming area and crop numbers
2.According to Avery Cohn, by 2050, the overall production of soy and corn will _________.
A.remain almost unchanged B.decrease by more than 9%
C.increase by from 9% to 13% D.decrease by more than 18%
3.What can we know about the similar studies mentioned in paragraph 3?
A.They can’t provide exact information to farmers.
B.They don’t take into consideration some key factors.
C.Their discouraging results largely affect overall crop output.
D.They pay too much attention to economic and social changes.
4.What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A.Farmers’ possible reactions to climate shocks.
B.Possible climate change in Mato Grosso.
C.The benefits of double cropping in Mato Grosso.
D.Farmers’ decision on planting crops in the future.
