“Suzanne Meyer, the assistant director of the English Language Institute at the University of Tennessee, says that many students need to learn how to collect information, and then evaluate the information and apply it to a new context. Meyer says: “1. . Question-asking activities help students to become better language learners. Question-asking may help develop critical thinking skills by allowing for more interactions.2. . When they are confident, they can have more interaction. That extra interaction might lead to critical thinking.”
How can you practice asking questions? There are many strategies to improve question-asking and develop critical thinking skills. 3. .
If students were reading a new text, they would design a series of questions using three different steps. In the first step, students create questions about information in the text that they are reading. In the second step, students create questions about how the information in the text connects to their own life. In the third step, students create questions about abstract ideas – ideas that came up in the questions about themselves.4. .
Practical Tips: Meyer says that when teachers tell students which questions to answer, students are less likely to be creative about the types of questions that they ask. 5. . Try making a list of questions that go from concrete to abstract. Check with your teacher to make sure that your grammar is correct, and try to practice in the classroom.
A.So, practice developing your own questions!
B.People who can ask questions should be very confident.
C.People can ask questions freely when they feel relaxed.
D.If people take some steps, they can find some useful question-asking patterns.
E.There are many benefits to using question-asking activities with English learners.
F.One possible strategy is to use question-asking patterns that start with concrete questions and move to abstract questions.
G.If students follow these three steps, they have not only practiced creative ways to ask questions, they have also started practicing critical thinking.

We had two dogs, Lucky and Lily Bit. Lucky loved to find ways to leave the confines (束 缚) of her indoor living routine, which made her a masterful escape artist. Lily Bit, on the other hand, did exactly as she was told, never straying, always staying close to home... except when she came under the influence of Lucky.
Whenever the two got out together, they could be seen out of sights often staying away for hours. More often than not, they’d arrive home near suppertime, covered in mud and leaves and smelling to high heaven from their afternoon outing in the woods.
I remember one such occasion when they’d once again mysteriously escaped, except this time, they returned clean and no worse for wear. It wasn’t until a few days later that we learned why. My wife ran into our neighbor Carl who lived a few houses down from us.
“I saw your two dogs the other day,” Carl said with a smile,
“Oh, yes? I’m so sorry. They’d been so good lately, so it was such a surprise when they got out. I sure hope they didn’t cause any trouble.” my wife replied,
“Oh, no, no trouble at all. Did you have any idea where they went?”
“No,” my wife answered.
“They attended my dog’s funeral (葬礼)” Carl said sadly.
“What?” Ann exclaimed, “Oh, no. I didn’t know Toby had died.
“Yep, it died a couple days ago. I was burying him in the back lot when your two dogs came running up. They sat down not far from me while. I finished burying him, then they left.”
“Wow that’s amazing! ” my wife replied. “Toby was Lily Bit’s father, you know. ”
“No, I didn’t know that,” Carl replied, “but I guess that explains why she felt like she needed to be there. She had to say her final goodbye.”

When Allison Winn was eight and her family adopted a dog named Coco, they had no idea how much the little creature would change her life. "Coco helped me feel better," says Allison, who was recovering from 14 months of treatment for a brain cancer at the time. “She would cuddle (偎依)with me when I didn't want to play." Allison loved Coco so much that she told her parents she wanted to help other sick kids find the same kind of comfort.
She started small, raising money by selling lemonade and homemade dog biscuits in front of her house. Her first customer was the mailman. By the end of that summer, she had raised nearly $1,000, enough to adopt and train two dogs and give them to children with cancer. Now, a little more than two years later, some groups gather to make dog treats for Allison's cause.
Her organization, the Stink Bug Project, named after a picture she drew in memory of the end of her treatment, is run and managed in partnership with the Morgan Adams Foundation. Stink Bug helps families adopt pets from the Trained K9 Companion Program, where the rescued dogs are taught commands. Allison's mother, Dianna Litvak, who helps run Stink Bug, hopes to extend the pet-adoption program statewide and continue donating some of the money to help fund children's cancer research.
"Allison has figured out how to help — in a way that no one else has," Litvak says. "We involve her younger sister, Emily, her friends, the adopting families, and some others. It took the love of a little girl to wrap all that together into one amazing package."

My wife and I owned two doge that we had owned before we met and brought into the marriage. Her dog was a pit bull(斗牛犬) named Zack, and he hated me. When our daughter was born, I was worried that the family pit bull would be dangerous to have around our young daughter. I warned my wife that the dog would have to go at the first sign of trouble. I said, “If he nips(啃咬) at the baby, he’s gone.”
We brought our daughter home in a car seat, and both dogs sniffed(嗅)and licked her, tails wagging. I had to pull Zack away from her because he wouldn’t stop licking her. Zack immediately became my daughter's protector, and when she was lying on a blanket on the floor, he always had one foot on the blanket.
Zack loved my daughter extremely, and when she became a little older always walked her to bed, and then slept on the bed with her. He somehow knew whenever it was time to go upstairs, and he would wait at the bottom of the stairs for her, and then follow her up to bed.
Zack was poisoned by some neighbor kids, and we had one of the worst days of our lives. Watching my daughter say goodbye to him as he lay still on the kitchen floor, my wife and I were both sobbing.
