It’s not easy feeling like you’re always under the spotlight being judged for each little mistake you make.Your mind is in an endless circle playing what you said and did over and over again. You wish you had a time capsule to go back and make things fight if you find mistakes. You fear what others will think about you and that they will reject and dislike you.You seek to be socially perfect.
Academically, you work long endless hours just to make those excellent marks.Although most would say“it's good to have high standards,”they have no idea about the internal hell you put yourself through to achieve perfection. If you come up less than your desired goal you feel as though you have failed, but you’re far from failing, you just don’t see it that way.So instead you are telling yourself that you’re stupid, and not smart. The pressure you place on yourself weighs you down and you wear the“not good enough”label each and every day.
You not only have high standards for yourself but you also have them for others. If people don’t perform up to your expectations, then you think them incompetent. This causes a lot of frustration because you can’t trust anyone to get things right. So instead of being a team player you fly solo(单飞)and try to do two or three jobs at once.Your unrealistic expectations cause you to criticize and judge others and that leads to problems in other areas of your life.
The attempt to be perfect is called perfectionism and it's the unachievable American dream that’s damaging our emotional and mental health. We strive for perfection with our body,in our performance, and in our relationships. In a society that overstates mistakes,is it any wonder that so many young people attempt the impossible task of being perfect?
We all have flaws, fears, and make mistakes, and that’s perfectly OK.It’s our imperfections that make life interesting and they help us grow into a stronger more adaptable person. We don’t have to strive to achieve the impossible. We are designed to be perfectly imperfect.
1.What might be the most suitable title of the text?

Life is not always easy. One day you wake up feeling like you can take over the world, and the next day you wake up feeling like all you want to do is to lie in bed and hide from everything.
People walk into your life, grab your hand, and lead you through the most beautiful path you’ve known, but sometimes the same people let go of your hand without warning, and you become stranded at a place where you never thought you’d feel lost.
Let’s be honest, sometimes everything is going so great and it seems like nothing could go wrong, but right when you begin to think that, something so horrible comes crashing down and all of a sudden more problems come drowning around you and you just feel so hopeless because it’s so bad…
It’s so hard to understand why such things happen in life, and I personally wish I had an answer to that “why” you always ask yourself, but all I can say is no matter how hard life gets, you have to keep going. The life around you will never stop going on.
I’ll be honest and say that sometimes I feel a little bit worried and all I can think is “Will I be able to keep up? What if everything goes too fast?” But I realize that being scared and living with that burden of running away from problems only slow me down even more.
And I’ve come to the point where I believe that because life never stops, I shouldn’t stop either. It’s okay to take a break and to give yourself time to heal, but you cannot give up and you cannot quit.
Keep positive, fill your heart with gratitude for what you already have, and always remind yourself to be humble and true to who you are!
1.How does the author illustrate “Life is not always easy”?
A. By making comparisons B. By using some famous sayings
C. By presenting his own experience D. By listing statistics
2.According to the author, it is to try running away from problems.
A. pointless B. reasonable
C. helpful D. considerate
3.Which saying can exhibit the author’s attitude towards life?
A. Save against a rainy day.
B. Constant dripping wears away the stone.
C. A good medicine tastes bitter.
D. Think it over before you leap.

Flying out of an airport in the United States is not always easy. You will need to complete the ticketing process, baggage check, and security clearance procedures before boarding the plane.
If you are flying on an international flight, you'd better arrive two hours before your plane is scheduled to leave. You might need more time in a busy airport in a large city. If you are traveling on a domestic (国内的) flight, you may only need to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your plane takes off.
Every airport in the States is now moving its ticketing procedure to electronic ticketing device. By using a ticketing machine, you have the chance to choose a seat you like on the plane. If you use it to check-in your bags, you will only have to talk to the ticketing agent when you turn in your luggage to be tagged (加标签). At the same time a real person will be nearby to help you if you need it.
After you have checked in, you will have to pass through airport security. Have your ID card or passport and boarding pass ready to show the security officer when entering the security checkpoint line. Airport security is getting tight in the States today. You're not allowed to travel with any prohibited things like knifes or fireworks.
After the security staff has checked your travel documents, you shall put all of your belongings through a scanning machine and then walk through a metal detector (探测器) or a full body scanner. You need to take off your coat, belt, and sometimes your shoes to go through one of these scanners. Be sure not to have any metal in your pockets. If you do not understand a question you are asked at a security checkpoint, ask the person to repeat their question until you are able to respond with an accurate answer.

Developing a Funny Personality
Put yourself under the spotlight. Tell self-deprecating (自嘲的)jokes rather than make jokes at the expense of others. 1. Rodney Dangerfield made fun of both his sanity (理智)and his looks with this one: "I went to the psychiatrist (精神病医生),and he says 'You're crazy.' I tell him I want a second opinion. He says, ‘Okay, you're ugly too!'"
Know your audience. 2. Some people find that sensationalism causes them to laugh; others find that satire (讽刺) does the trick. Learn which is which, and deliver your jokes and anecdotes so that they apply to many different categories of humor and emotion at once.
Mislead the mind. Misleading the mind is what we referred to earlier as surprise. 3. Verbal jokes use this element to the greatest level possible, trying to misdirect your attention in the same that magic tricks do.
4. Good timing is really important, because if you give the brain too much time to work out a situation or joke, the funny moment will pass by. This is probably why jokes people have heard before don't work, as recognition dulls the humor because the brain is already well-prepared by experience. React quickly and strike while the humorous moment exists.
Be observant. Look for the humor in everyday situations, and see what others don't. 5.
A. Strike while the iron is hot.
B. Different things make different people laugh.
C. Surround yourself with people who are funny.
D. More people will be more willing to laugh, instead of being laughed at.
E. You can expand your reach a good deal by listening to other funny people.
F. Often, the unnoticed humor that is standing right in front of our eyes has the most effect.
G. This is when you create a difference between what someone expects to happen and what actually happens.

Whether you admit it or not, music improves our daily life and makes us feel easy, especially the music of Beethoven and Mozart. But can you believe that a school in England is using classical music to cut down students’ bad behavior?
The head teacher Brian Walker at the West Park School in Derby asks some students to stay behind after school on Fridays. He forces his students to listen to Mozart and other classical music. He also makes them copy his favorite poems and they have to watch educational videos.
Mr. Walker says his main aim is to stop noisy pupils causing trouble in class for students who want to study. He said the students staying behind were “not the smokers or drinkers, the truants (逃学生) or the people who are late for school…It’s those who have slowed the learning and teaching in class for everyone”. Mr. Walker said this was unacceptable, because it was making the rest of the students fail to focus their attention on their study.
Mr. Walker believes what he does reminds students that education is something to value. “It helps them see they are part of something bigger that will improve their life chances,” he said. The head teacher thinks students in fact learn from being kept behind after school. “Hopefully, I open their ears to an experience they don’t normally have and don’t want to have again, so it’s both educational and acts as a warning.”
Music has had success elsewhere in reducing bad behavior. In 2004, it reduced crime on London’s subway by 25 percent. Researchers from a Belfast university found it helped stop elephants’ bad behavior.
However, one West Park student called Kieran said, “An hour of Mr. Walker’s music is a real killer.”

A. plays truant B. smokes in class

B. Because they are wasting their life.
C. Because they are disturbing teachers.
D. Because they have a bad influence on the other students.
4.In the eyes of Mr. Walker, _____.
A. some students don’t realize education is valuable
