How to Apply
For each class, we bring together a varied mix of high-achieving, intellectually gifted students from diverse backgrounds to create an exceptional learning community.
We care about what students have accomplished in and out of the classroom. The process is highly selective. In recent years, we’ve offered admission to less than 7 percent of applicants.
As you prepare your application, help us to appreciate your talents, academic accomplishments and personal achievements. We’ll ask for your transcript (成绩单) and recommendations, and we will want to know more than just the statistics in your file. Tell us your story. Show us what’s special about you. Tell us how you would seize the academic and nonacademic opportunities at Princeton and contribute to the Princeton community. Above all, please write in a style that reflects your own voice.
Princeton accepts the Coalition Application and Common Application. Princeton treats them all equally. To apply, you will need to submit online either the Coalition Application or the Common Application, plus the Princeton Supplement.
When to Apply
You have two choices for applying to Princeton for first-year admission—single-choice early action or regular decision. Before you begin preparing your application, we strongly encourage you to review our standardized testing policy, which includes detailed information regarding our standardized testing requirements.

Scholarship Application Tips in 2013 for college students
·Before you apply
1. Work hard to get good grades. Don’t sweat about one bad grade, but always strive(力求)to do your best.
2. Get involved, and stay involved, in extracurricular(课外的)activities. Sports, clubs, drama, bands and orchestras－these often count toward a student’s overall scholarship application evaluation. The same goes for paid (or unpaid) work experience.
3. Begin your scholarship research early－by your sophomore(大学二年级)or junior year of high school, if possible. Make special note of application deadlines, as they can vary from late summer to late spring.
4. Apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible(符合条件的)for－several smaller scholarships can add up to a lot of money.
·During the application process
1. Read the supplementary materials that come with scholarship application forms to better understand the program’s focus (community service, subject interest). Try to answer the questions with the focus area in mind.
2. Answer questions as they are asked. Don’t got off topic.
3. If there is a financial component to the application, make sure you get accurate and complete information from all appropriate sources to ensure your eligibility.
4. Take your time. Write down everything you can think of for each question, then set the application aside for a day so you can look everything over again before you send it off.
5. Don’t wait until the last minute to complete your application, especially if you are applying online. Computer systems can get clogged(阻塞的)with the large volume of applicants hoping to submit their qualifications during the last few days and hours before a deadline.
6. If a third party has to complete part of your application, such as providing a letter of recommendation, make sure you ask them early on and remind them as often as necessary to ensure they provide you with the necessary materials.
7. Last but not least, review your application with your parents to make sure you haven’t left out any important details.

How do I apply to NYU Shanghai?
All non-Chinese applicants to NYU Shanghai will follow the international admissions process outlined below. If you are a citizen of Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macao regardless of where you currently live, click her for more information on the Chinese admissions process.
Step 1: Start and Complete the Common Application Online
The Common Application is required for students applying to any or all of NYU’s three degree-granting campuses in Shanghai, New York, or Abu Dhabi. You’ll be able to choose your campus(s)and program(s) of interest on the NYU Questions page of the Common Application. If NYU Shanghai is your first choice, select Shanghai as your Primary campus of interest. If Shanghai is your second or third choice, please select it as an alternate campus of interest.
You’ll need:
Contact information for the counselor or other school representative who will complete your Common Application School Report and submit your official high school transcript.
Contact information for one teacher (or two, maximum) who will complete the Teacher Evaluation form.
Nonrefundable $80.00 application fee. Students who are unable to pay the application fee can request a fee waiver.

Step 2: Gather and Submit Necessary Documents
You will need to provide the following:
Results from standardized tests and/or national exams.
The Common Application School Report and official high school transcript.
One teacher valuation (students may submit an optional second teacher evaluation, but please submit no more than two)
The Common Application Mid-Year Report (This should show your first semester senior year grades. Have your counselor submit the report by March 1 through the Common Application.)
The Common Application Final Report with final transcript, showing proof of graduation by July 1 (admitted students only)
Please note that for the SAT, SAT Subject Test, AP, and TOEFL, the NYU code is 2562; for the ACT, the NYU code is 2838.
SAT, SAT Subject, ACT, and AP scores must be final at the time of application. For other examinations, like IB or A-Levels, predicted results may be submitted at the time of application by a school official if final results are not yet available. Students who submit predicted results will need to submit final scores as soon as not they become available. Sending Documents
Submit original or certified copies only. A certified copy has an original signature of the registrar or other designated school official, or the institution’s seal. Include an official English Elation if the document isn’t in English. A school official or a translation agency accredited in the country of the educational institution can issue the translation. NYU will only make exceptions for documents in Mandarin Chinese submitted to NYU Shanghai.
Transcripts and test scores must come from an official source to be processed.
Documents not submitted through the Common Application can be mailed to New York University Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

A first-year undergraduate student in Chengdu, recently complained online that her mother refused to raise her monthly allowance to 4,500 yuan ( $ 633) even when she said her current allowance 2, 000 yuan was not enough to cover her expenses, sparking a debate on how much money a college student needs per month. Even for a college student studying in a first-tier city in China, 2,000 yuan is enough to cover all his or her monthly expenses. In fact, for a college student in Chengdu a monthly allowance of 2,000 yuan is more than enough. According to a survey conducted by a bookkeeping platform, the average monthly expense for an undergraduate in cities other than Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou was less than 2,000 yuan in 2019； for Chengdu, it was 1,900 yuan.
Claiming that she can hardly afford new clothing and cosmetics with her 2,000 yuan monthly allowance, the undergraduate student in Chengdu criticized her mother for refusing to raise her pocket money. Her "meager" allowance, she said, prevented her from buying branded goods that her hostel-mates enjoyed.
By the time a person enters a college, she or he should have developed a healthy consumption habit. And a youth should adjust her or his consumption according to her or his family income. On a deeper level, the money they spend in college should depend on how much they value their parents' hard work. Besides, some college students could take UP part-time jobs to meet their monetary needs if they feel their parents don't or can't send them enough money.
