High school students in Victoria, Australia have been offered Education Department advice ahead of their written exams. The advice has been developed by the state Education Department together with a mental health organization. “Exams can be a stressful time and the government is ensuring that students have the support they need to get through the period,” Education Minister Martin Dixon said.
Students are advised to breathe deeply through their noses as a relaxation technique, to have a healthy diet, and to improve their mood by exercising. The importance of sleep, staying connected with family and friends, and planned study times are emphasized. Students will also learn “positive self-talk”. “The positive way that you talk to yourself can be used for greater confidence and reducing stress, and can be a very effective way to prepare yourself for a big test or exam,” students are told.
The tips encourage young people to speak up if they are having difficulty, and remember that life will go on beyond exams. At the same time, students with serious problems are urged to seek professional help.

Speaking of campus clubs, people usually think of conventional ones like roller-skating or music clubs. But now, society and club culture is seeing more diversity, with students interests covering a wide field.
Yu joined the club a month ago after he saw a big paper elephant on display at the society and club recruiting fair (招新大会). “It was made by the club chairman, who s my age,” says Yu. “His work aroused my interest in origami (折纸).” According to Yu, the club was formed by a group of students who love the art of origami. “Though I ve never tried origami before, I m impressed by their love of it and I want to learn it myself,” he says.
Other than treating societies and clubs as a way of entertainment, some students now use them to broaden their horizons, help their studies, and prepare for a future career. Some societies and clubs like this include extra tuition clubs, straight-A student clubs, and start-up business clubs.
Cui Ye, 19, is the co-founder of the straight-A student club at Beihang University. Most people remember their teachers as some kind of despotic(专制的)person although it isn't always the truth. Most of them are quite nice and are always there to give us a hand when we need one. Not so long ago, you might think the teacher was The Teacher and was almighty(万能的)and the students were there to learn and nothing else. Now there is some kind of interactivity(相互活动)between the students and the teacher. To my mind, teachers are here to teach us their knowledge and to listen to what we have to say. Indeed, students aren't afraid to tell them what they think any more. However, this doesn’t mean that they don't control their troops. It is just because times and methods have changed. Our teachers are now closer to their students and have created some kind of soft climate that allows us to be in class without a feeling of obligation(责任)or what so ever. Nevertheless, we can but notice that the "power" is still in the teachers' hands. If something goes wrong it is up to him or her to react properly and to carry out punishment if it is necessary.

阅读下面短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Oseola McCarty spent more than 75 years washing and ironing other people’s clothes. As a laundrywoman, she was paid only a few dollars each time. Certainly nobody would consider her rich, so they were all amazed when Miss McCarty decided to donate $ 150,000 to the University of Southern Mississippi.
The money was all my savings. She could save such a large amount of money because she lived a very simple life. She never learned to drive, and when she wanted to go somewhere, she just walked. She never flew to anywhere till the donation(捐助),and in 50 years she had been out of the South only once. The house in which she lived was also a rather modest one her last uncle left her. Only after she became known in America did she begin to travel all over the country. Since then, she had been the subject of many interviews and articles and was even invited to the White House.
Her donation was for students who clearly needed financial help. She herself left school in the sixth grade and had never married or had children. She said to the reporters that the idea of helping somebody’s child go to college gave her much pleasure.

高三英语书面表达中等难度题查看答案及解析
阅读下面短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Most people think it s fine to be “busy as a be aver (海狸).” But actually, although beavers may work hard, often they don’t get much done.
Beavers are good at building dams and most beaver dams are wonders of engineering. The best ones are strongly built of trees, stones, and mud. They are wide at the bottom and narrow at the top.
Beavers think nothing of building a dam more than two hundred feet long. One dam, in Montana, was more than two thousand feet long. The largest one ever seen was in New Hampshire. It stretched four thousand feet. It made a lake large enough to hold forty beaver homes.
So beavers do build good dams. But they don’t always build them in the right places. They just don’t plan. They will build a dam across the widest part of the stream. They don’t try to find a place where the stream is narrow. So a lot of their hard work is wasted.
Beavers should learn that it’s not enough to be busy. You have to know what you’re doing, too. For example, there was one Oregon beaver that really was a worker. It decided to fix a hole in a man-made dam. After five days of work it gave up. The hole it was trying to fill was the space that boats go through.

Is youth lingo ruining the Chinese language?
Young people often create their own language that goes beyond rigid linguistic rules. This year's latest slang (俚语) terms add a further simplification: the use of pinyin acronyms (首字母缩略词). “Awsl,” in pinyin, for instance, means “Ah, wo si le” (Oh, I'm gonna die), and is used if something is too cute or adorable to bear. “Pyq” stands for “pengyou quan”,the social feed on the popular Chinese social media app WeChat, and “nsdd” stands for “ni shuo de dui” (you're right).
Teens want to be different from their parents, so it's natural for them to create and use their own linguistic terms to show that. In doing so, young people are indeed driving linguistic change. They aren't the only factor influencing language development, but they can indeed transform how future generations communicate.
Critics fear that Chinese internet slang will have the potential to negatively influence broader linguistic trends of Mandarin Chinese, in particular, the gradual taking over of pinyin. As pinyin gets widely used when texting or writing on mobile phone or computer, while less and less people write characters by hand, people gradually forget how to write them. The phenomenon has got a name in China: Character amnesia (健忘症)

Honesty means speaking the truth and being fair. Honesty is a good virtue. If you are honest
all the time, you'll be trusted and respected by others. A liar is always looked down upon and
regarded as a black sheep by the people around. Once you lie, people will never believe you
even if you speak the truth.
However, nowadays it seems that more and more people believe in money at the sacrifice of
honesty. To them, among such things as health, beauty, money, intelligence, honesty, reputation
and talent, honesty is the only thing that can be thrown away. They don't understand or pretend
not to understand that honesty is the biggest fortune for humans,.and that it is necessary to do
everything well.
In short, honesty is gold. Honest, your reputation will become great; dishonest, your name
will be spoiled: Therefore, we should never make such an excuse as "A little dishonesty is only a
slight thing." We should remove immediately the seed of dishonesty once it's sowed in our
minds.

书面表达
请阅读下面短文,并按照要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章。
Wishing Away
Have you ever noticed how people always want to be something they’re not?
Tall want to be short, young long to age, single dream of marriage, and no matter what body shape, everyone wants to lose at least another five pounds.
It’s almost like a natural preoccupation (天性), this wishing away of our lives.
Think about it. When was the last time you heard someone say, “I am totally satisfied with myself and my life. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
It just doesn’t happen. So, I have this idea to create a virtual reality machine that would allow people to actually experience the life of their dreams. For instance, for all the women who live with the unanswered hope that their husband will one day wait at the back door with a dozen roses and a cool bottle of Dom Perignon... the opportunity to live with Prince Charming.
Or, for sports fans, how about the chance to score the winning goal, kick the overtime fieldgoal, drive the victory lap, or hit that “must-win” two pointer at the buzzer? Music fans might choose to jump onstage and perform with their favorite rock band or conduct a full orchestral symphony.
The possibilities are endless.
But I wonder about the down side to such an invention. Would experiencing the dreams of a lifetime really make us better people? I'm not sure of that answer, or of the true possibility of such an invention.
But what I am sure of is that perfection is often over-evaluated.
