A new report says African governments are ill prepared to handle the growing number of people over age 65. The population in Africa as in other parts of the world, is getting older. Currently, there are 36 million people on the continent 65 years and above. which is 3.6 percent of the population. up from 3.3 percent 10 years ago. That could rise to 4.5 percent by 2030 and 10 percent by 2050. The African development Bank is raising concerns over the shortage of health insurance and pensions (养老金).
The African Development Bank says. "Aging is highly linked with long-term physical and mental disability and a number of long-term chronic (慢性的) conditions."
"Africa is not well prepared to care for its aging population right now. And it needs to prepare for this fact." said Professor Mthuli Ncube. the African Development Bank's chief economist. African nations spend far less on healthcare than developed nations do___ about $26per person per year. Not so many countries have well developed medical aid plans for the elderly, whether they are privately provided plans or indeed government plans. If you look at the pension plans, you will find the pension industries are not well developed in some of the countries.
Professor Mthuli Ncube said African governments failed to take action on health insurance
and pensions because they were busy with economic reforms.
Another challenge for Africa is the worsening of informal systems of social protection. That is cash and support from both the extended family and community sources.
. The African Development Bank recommends governments help carry out health insurance and pension plans. Ncube said African governments didn't have to handle the health insurance burden alone. "It is not only a must but also an opportunity for private companies to add their bit in this regard", he said. The report also recommends that African governments consider providing ways of free health services. medications and long-term health care facilities for the elderly.

It's impossible to provide an exact number of words in English, since new words are being added to the dictionary, and falling out of use constantly. 1.
The short answer is: about a million. Doubt you know anything even close to a million words? That number includes any number of legal, medical, scientific, and mechanical terms that most people will never meet in their day-to-day lives. 2.
The “million" number also includes the many, many words that have fallen out of use throughout the time.3. Consider the word “diddle",a slang term from the 1700s that means “gin". Many English speakers would recognize “gin",but far fewer would recognize “ diddle”.
If a million words is the absolute upper level, how does that compare with the general vocabulary of most English speakers? 4. Most English-speaking adults know between 20,000 and 30,000 words. And in addition to those many thousands of words, they're probably able to comprehend a good 20,000 more just from context clues.
5. You won't find a single dictionary that includes anywhere close to the total million words. One of the reasons is that general-usage dictionaries don't include lots of technical terms—both because of how uncommon they are and, in some cases, because of length. The longest word in the English language is a term from chemistry that is used to identify a certain kind of protein. It is 180,000 letters long. So you certainly won't see it in the dictionary.
A.But what's the number?
B.More than you might think!
C.That doesn't amount to a whole lot, though!
D.Then, how many words are there in the book?
E.While words like these are very uncommon, they still count.
F.If you recognize these uncommon words, we sadly no longer use them.
G.Though removed from the dictionary, they still count as English words.

Since the mid-1980s,the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children Burn Camp has been offering children with burn sears a week of relief."They have a lot of emotional things that they go through, trying to fit back in with society with their scars,"said Becky Mundy.burn center education coordinator at Akron Children's Hospital.
The camp typically has around 15 campers. Many are repeat customers, and most were treated at Akron Children's Hospital or began coming after they moved to the area. The camp is free to campers and is funded by an organization named Aluminum Cans for Burned Children which raises money for burn survivors and their families.
The Thursday of the camp week is Fire Truck Day,when dozens of local fire trucks arrive, along with camp alumni(校友),doctors and nurses, and family members.Campers get to see fire vehicles up close and interact with the firefighters.
Sometimes, they are the very ones who rescued the campers, months or years earlier. It is,they say,a bond that never goes away. But Fire Truck Day contributes in another way, allowing them to see each other in a different light.
Memories of a bad fire can be unforgettable.Nearly two years ago,Pazdernik carried an injured girl out of a burning house in which her parents perished, and later the girl was adopted by a kind family.
On Fire Truck Day,Pazdernik got to see the girl he saved,Shaniya Simpson. She shared a hug with the firefighters who had rescued her.and said it was good to see them.
"I think it helps her heal,"said Kim Canterbury, who was Shaniya's teacher at the time of the fire."Just by saying thank you."
It was good for Pazdernik, too."To see her go on with life and be happy, you're able to see that you had an impact on her,"he said."lt's definitely a lot more fulfilling."
