China’s General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) has issued a new Circular about Preventing the Teenagers from Online Game Addictions.

1. They will control the time and money spent by underage gamers to prevent Teenagers from getting addicted to video games. Further, a real-name registration system will be created to check the identity of gamers against the national database.

It was estimated about 620 million gamers had brought in as much as $38 billion in revenue (收入) ---out of which 60 percent came from mobile games.2. In the first half of 2018, China accounted for 26.1 percent of global revenues in this industry space.

According to a report last year, there are more than 800 million netizens in China and over 98 percent are smart phone users. Mobile games and PC games are the primary type of products in China’s gaming market, and account for 66 percent and 28.5 percent of revenues.

The new measures specifically target youth online gaming. It bans users aged under 18 from playing online games between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. 3. A maximum of three hours per day on weekends and public holidays.

The government is also targeting the profitable parts of online micro transactions (微交易). Gamers aged between 8 and 16 will only be able to add up to RMB 200 ($29) per month into their account. Gamers between 16 and 18 years old will be able to top up a maximum of RMB 400($57).

4. Regulators will be allowed to check the identity of users with the national database. Users will be required to register their accounts with their real name and phone number.

Commenting on the newest measures, the GAPP says it wants that Gamers aged between 8 and 16 will only be able to add up to RMB 200ts to clean up China’s internet space. 5.

In advance of World Book Day on April 23, the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication released its 17th annual report on the study of Chinese people's reading habits on Monday.

Based on a survey that ranged from August 2019 to February 2020, the report showed 81.1 percent of adult Chinese surveyed have a habit of reading, whether in print or on digital devices, a slight increase of 0.3 percent from 2018. Wei Yushan, director of the academy, said the survey covered 55 cities and towns in the country and it can credibly represent the situation of the whole population.

In 2019, adult Chinese read on average 4.6.5 books in print and 2. 84 digital books, while in 2018 it was 4.67 and 3. 32, a small drop for both.

While the report said most Chinese feel they 're not satisfied with the amount of books they read in a year. 11.1 percent read more than 10 books in print, and 7.6 percent more than 10 e-books. As for children and young people under 17, "the results are more encouraging, according to Wei. The survey revealed they read 10.36 books a year on average, 1. 45 more than in 2018.

Audio(有声的) books are attracting more Chinese, as 30.3 percent of adults and 34.7 percent of minors had a habit of listening to audio books in 2019, increasing by 4.3 and 8.5 percent compared to2018. The report found mobile phones were the top choice of medium when Chinese people read. On average, adults spent 100.41 minutes a day on mobile phones, 15.54 minutes more than in 2018.

A closer look at the report shows people's priority when using the Internet was to socialize (60.2 percent), followed by getting news (59 percent) and enjoying video clips (56.9 percent). Only 20.5 percent of them used it to connect to books, newspapers or journals.

Still, there's good news in the data from younger readers. Wei said 94.3 percent of Chinese families with children under 8 had a habit of reading, and parents spent almost 25 minutes every day reading with their kids, 2.37 minutes more than 2018

The publication of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" gladdens booksellers across China. The British and American editions were No. 1 and No. 3 respectively on the sales chart of the Beijing Xidan Book Building last week. As a matter of fact, each child has his own wonderful imagination. They long to understand the world and nature. Similarly they have their own choices. They dislike similar stories, even if the stories are excellent. First-class reading for children should be very interesting, which contains knowledge and the essence of national culture, which are presented in children's language.

Market is a touchstone for products. The theory also holds true for cultural products. It is hoped that the authors of children's books can learn something from the good market of "Harry Potter" and write out more and better books loved by children.

This helps lower-achieving students absorb language. Furthermore, role play is a very effective way to improve speaking skills particularly if it is connected to the experience of the students.

Under new rules posted by the Civil Aviation (航空) administration of China on Friday, pilots will have to pass a “level four” test of Mandarin Chinese, China’s official language. Those who speak with an accent that “often impedes” comprehension will not pass. These rules take effect in January 2016.
