It is likely for anyone to be misunderstood for some reason. I am no exception. One day after school, I got on my bike and start heading home. I was just about to get out of the traffic jam outside our school while a woman stopped me, claim that my bike had scratched his car. I felt confused because that I clearly remembered that I was trying to avoid touching her car just now. Therefore, she insisted on blaming me and gradually rose her voice. Surrounded by the crowd, I got anxious and desperate wanted this to be over. So I made a compromise.
Never before in my life had I dealt with such thing, and I was apparently taken advantage of. Now I am aware that I should never give out as long as I am on the right side.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that kids who read for pleasure are more likely to be at or above their expected reading level. Unfortunately, according to the National Assessment of Education Progress scores in 2018, 48 percent of fourth graders in the US have fallen below their grade level when it comes to reading. Schools have been trying different ways to improve students' reading skills, primarily by encouraging children to read more outside of the classroom.
One of the most successful programs has been the Reading to Dogs Program. The program is simple. Schools and libraries pair children that need help with their reading skills up with assistance dogs. The environment is usually very relaxed, with the dog and the child sitting together on the floor. This encourages physical interaction during the process which can help the child relax (petting dogs has been proven to lower blood pressure and reduce stress). Children benefit from the patience, acceptance and comfort of the dog's presence, while getting much needed practice with their reading skills in a non-judgmental environment. Children have an ability to interact one-on-one with a therapy dog to improve their reading skills. The benefits apply to other areas of the classroom as well, including students' concentration in class and their completion of homework.
In addition, the Reading to Dogs Program helps children:
1. Gain confidence. Children that score lower on reading exams are generally self- conscious about their abilities, and thus they are more likely to be uncomfortable when reading in front of their classmates. By replacing their classmates with a therapy dog, they are able to read in a completely non-judgmental environment, thus helping them to gain confidence in their skills.
2. Learn about responsible pet care. In addition to the educational and social benefits of this program, children also learn about interacting with an animal. For those who do not have pets at home, this program can teach children about proper dog care and behavior.

For anyone who is determined to be a fashion designer,it is not enough to have succeeded in college. The real test is whether they can survive, and become established during their early 20s,making a name for themselves in the real world where business skills can be as important as talent and creativity.
Fashion is a hard business. There is a continuous amount of stress because work is at a constant and extremely fast speed to prepare for the next season’s collections. It is extremely competitive and there is the constant need to make attractive advertisements of the latest fashion in newspapers and magazines. It also requires continual freshness because the appetite for new ideas is hard to satisfy.“We try to warn people before they come to us about how tough it is.” says Lydia Kemeny,Head of Fashion at St.Martin’s School of Art in London.“And we point out that drive and determination are absolutely necessary.”
This may seem far removed from the popular opinions of fashionable young people spending their time designing pretty dresses. That may well be what they do in their first year of study but a good college won’t be slow in introducing students to commercial realities,“We don’t walk our foot on the blossoming flower of creativity but in the second year we start introducing the restrictions of price, producing ability, marketing and so on.”
Almost all fashion design is done to a brief. It is not a form of selfexpression as such, although there is certainly room for imagination and creativity. Most young designers are going to end up as employees of a producer or a fashion house and they still need to be able to work within the characteristic style of their employer.Even those students who are most modern in their own taste of clothes may need to adapt to produce designs which are right for the mainstream of the market. They also have to be able to work at both the expensive and the cheap end of the market and the challenge to produce good design inexpensively may well be demanding.

It is generally agreed that a good student must be able to concentrate for a reasonable time on a written text, yet most students are given very little help to practice this skill. Almost all classroom reading is into minutes of reading and therefore it is no wonder that a number of students have in this field.
If you have a problem with ,you must first examine the conditions in which you work. Lighting can be a problem: too many readers put up with lighting conditions. If this is a problem, and you don’t have a reading lamp, try a strong bulb(灯泡), read near a window in day time and always avoid reading in your own shadow. the light should come from overhead or over your shoulder. Reflective surfaces should be avoided. You should also excessive contrast (过度对比) caused by using a reading lamp as the only of light as this will cause great tiredness and probably eye injury.
A second reason for poor concentration is the of motivation, that is, an absence of any sense of purpose. If this is the cause, you will almost be bored by the text. Be sure that you keep your in mind during your reading so that you know you should also adopt some specific techniques—such as making notes from your reading—to aid your concentration.
If you play the role of a receiver of information, simply concentrating on absorbing everything you read, you will that your mind is overloaded, confused by the material. If you struggled to get up for work on Wednesdays, there could be a good reason--it is the day our mood reaches its lowest point. Monday has traditionally been thought of as the most depressing day of the week but according to psychologists, midweek gives more cause for concern in reality. Wednesday represented the lowest point in the week as people were furthest away from the weekend that has either just gone or is coming up and often feel too tired to go on with work.
However, psychologists have found that, on average, people's moods remain about the same on each day throughout the week.
To start their research, the University of Sydney scientists asked around 200 people what they thought their mood would be on each day of the week.
Most said their worst moods were on Monday mornings and evenings but they became increasingly cheerful as the week went on, with their best moods falling on Friday and Saturday mornings and evenings.
When asked why they believed that Friday and Saturday were best, respondents said they saw them as less-structured days when they could choose how to spend their time.
The psychologists then asked a further 350 people how they felt each day.
They found that, on average, people's moods remained about the same on each day throughout the week.Mondays were not as depressing as they had feared and Fridays and Saturdays were not as exciting as predicted.
Professor Charles Areni, who led the study, said the day-of-the-week stereotypes (陈词滥调) stem from a cultural belief that people are generally happier when they are free to choose their activities compared to when they are engaged in paid work.
In reality, he said, weekends do not often see moods change because they are frequently dominated by productive activities that may require large amounts of energy and begin to feel tired like work. "Day-of-the-week stereotypes like Monday morning blues and Thank God It's Friday are largely illusions," he said.

B. Saturday and Sunday were the best because people could plan their time freely.
C. There was no sharp difference in people’s moods between each day of the week.
D. Different people had different ideas about which day was the worst in a week.
4. Charles Areni believes that the day-of-the-week stereotypes results from________.
A. the productive activities requiring a large amount of energy
B. the cultural belief that doing paid work is usually less pleasant than doing freely chosen work
C. the illusions of day-of-the-week stereotypes
D. the days in a week when our mood reaches its lowest points

The phone rang. I waited for the answering machine to get it, but for some reason, it was not picking up. I sighed, annoyed because I knew the call was either going to be for my wife, Susan (she was the only one who received calls on the home line, and she left to take Alyce to school ten minutes ago), or it was the latest of 300 attempts to sell me something I had absolutely no interest in.
''Hello, '' I said, an edge in my voice. 12-year-old daughter, ''Mommy was just in a car accident. '' My heart stopped and then began pounding. ''Are you all right? '' ''Yes. '' ''Is Mommy? '' A deep sob. ''I don't know…I don't think so. Come quick. '' I rushed a few blocks to what looked like a shoot for a disaster movie. Fire engines, police cars, and ambulances were randomly parked in the street; helicopters circled. A city bus was on the wrong side of the road. In front of it were the smashed remains of Susan's car. Susan was pinned under the dashboard (仪表盘). There was no front windshield (挡风玻璃).
Alyce was standing on the corner crying, covered in tiny pieces of glass but uninjured. Inconceivable! Susan wasn’t so lucky. But she was alive. It turned out that she had broken nearly every bone in her body, and she would spend almost three months in the hospital.
More than two years later, Susan and I were at a musical event. Our director, Danny, rushed up to us. He said excitedly, ''There's a woman here tonight from one of the church choirs who you have to meet! '' He returned with an African American woman with a bright, glowing smile. She told us she lived in the apartment building by where the accident had happened. That morning, she had rushed to the street, still in her bathrobe, and seen Alyce standing by the side of the wrecked car, crying. She approached her, asking, ''Is that your mom in there? '' Alyce nodded, and the woman said, ''Let's pray together. ''
Sweet, innocent Alyce looked at this woman wearing a cross around her neck and told her that she needed to call me, but her backpack with her phone was trapped inside the crushed vehicle. So the woman lent Alyce her phone. After the accident, she said, she had continued to pray for our family. We had our picture taken together, and as we were saying goodbye, she hugged us all warmly. We realized we had never been formally introduced, so she said to me, ''I'm sorry, I never got your name. '' I told her it was Doug, and she paused, as if maybe she hadn't heard me. I repeated, ''Doug, like Douglas. '' She looked at us and said, ''Wait, your name is Susan? '' Susan nodded. ''And your name is Douglas? '' The woman put her hand over her heart. ''Oh my goodness, '' she said. ''My name is Susan Douglas. ''

Rules can help the public make the right 3,and remain safe. Car drivers have to obey traffic regulations that tell them the right things to do on the road to avoid crashes. Cyclists who give signals before turning or stopping help prevent4.
