Fear can be a wonderful feeling in our lives, protecting us from dangerous situations and keeping us safe. But fear can also limit our lives significantly. While it may not be conscious, fear may make us think we are unacceptable or that what we have to offer isn’t valuable. Fear may make us feel that we are not safe being ourselves.
To avoid feeling fear, we may limit our lives greatly, living in tiny boxes. Living this way gives us the illusion(假象) of safety but leaves us with an unfulfilling life of no passion. If we shine a light on many of our fears, we see they have a very limited view of what is “safe” and how to “protect” us. Many of our fears are concerned only with protecting us from humiliation(羞辱) and failure. While these fears are doing their jobs incredibly well, they are doing so with faulty and outdated programming. Many fears we have as adults are trying to protect us as they protected us when we were children. Indeed, many of our current, automatic reactions to fear were actually formed when we were children.
Even so, it’s important not to judge ourselves for feeling these types of fears. If we judge ourselves, we will bury our fears or disguise them. By denying our fears, however, we also deny our energy, creativity and passion.
So what do we do with fear? We recognize the fear for what it is--- a feeling we’ve experienced many times in the past and a feeling we will experience many times in the future. We become very familiar with our own particular brand of fears and how we allow them to control our lives. It is especially beneficial for each of us to become aware of the particular behavior patterns we’ve adopted when we feel fear, so we can look at our reactions with a sense of humor and compassion. Then, if we wish, we can choose a different response, which can be a scary yet very exciting experience.

In our daily life, many of us feel stressed more or less. Some like this pressure and work better because of it. Others are not comfortable with any stress at all; they soon become unhappy if they feel stressed. Sometimes stress can lead people to do things they wouldn’t usually do, such as overeat, smoke, drink, or use drugs. Stress, however, is a very normal part of life.
It is important to understand that stress doesn’t come from an event itself, that is, from the things that are happening in our lives. It comes from the meaning we give to what has happened. For example, a crying baby may be stressful to one person, but it may not bother another person at all; a traffic jam may be stressful to one person while another person may be able to stay calm.
We can experience stress any time we feel we don’t have control. It can come from a feeling that we can’t do anything about a situation. Basically, it is the body’s way of showing anxiety or worry.
Stress is not just caused by our mental or emotional condition. It is also influenced by how tired we are, whether we have a balanced diet with enough vitamins and minerals, whether we get enough physical exercise, and whether we can relax.
The key point of relieving the stress is that we need to find what is causing the stress in our lives. Once we have found it, we should try to change that part of our lives. If we believe that we can control stress, we can begin to control our lives. Then we can start to use stress in a positive way.

A sign can be found in the front yard of a house in the US. The people living here want to let their dog play outside and ensure it won’t run into the street. So, they hire a company to set up an “invisible fence”, an electric wire buried in the ground around the yard. The dog wears a special collar and when it walks near to the “fence”, the wire will send out a small shock. The dog quickly learns to stay away from the edge of the yard. As it says at the bottom of the sign, the fence will keep your dog “safe” (away from the street) and “at home” (contained inside the yard).
The small word “BRAND” printed in blue means that “Invisible Fence” is registered as the company’s brand name. Similarly, the “TM” printed after “your dog safe at home” stands for “trade mark”, a slogan registered specifically to one company.

Many of us would like to spend all of our time helping dogs in need, but it can be hard to carve out that kind of time. Well, one man, Eugene Bostick, decided that when he retired, he would devote the rest of his life to helping homeless dogs feel loved.
Eugene Bostick was fortunate enough to be able to retire at the ripe age of 65 after working his entire life on his farm. His farm was located at the end of a dead-end street, and he noticed that people would, unfortunately, abandon their dogs on the farm and race off.
Eugene refused to see these pets suffer, and he quickly picked up these abandoned dogs, giving them food and taking them to the vet to make sure they were spayed and neutered.
Eugene’s farm has all kinds of animals, such as horses and goats, so these dogs have plenty of other animals to play with.
Over the last 20 years, Eugene has shown his kindness by taking on these abandoned pets, but he also saw the chance to offer them a bit of adventure. After spotting a neighbor transporting rocks behind his tractor using barrels, he realized he could do the same for his dogs. Eugene got to work to make his own train, and made sure to add some pleasant pillows so his furry friends could travel in comfort. The dogs quickly got on the train, and together, they spent hours traveling around town and through the forests nearby.
After they were spotted around town, one neighbor took a picture of Eugene that went viral, and a GoFundMe page was started that gained plenty of donations. Eugene was amazed by everyone’s generosity, and was happy to see others help these abandoned animals feel loved. Eugene will continue to care for his dogs, and we should all follow his lead!
